For those who enjoy 300 days per year of tropical sun and cool breeze, the best weather in the world could quite possibly be in northeast Brazil.
The title Best Weather in the World is a bit of a ridiculous statement, I realize. It is certainly a subjective topic and there will surely be the individuals who prefer the 8 months per year of grey, drizzle in Seattle (where I’m from), to the 10 months per year of sun and breeze here in Praia da Pipa, where I live now. That being said, those who prefer the constant Seattle sprinkle are going to disagree with me. However, for lovers of the tropics, I can confidently say that northeast Brazil, specifically the coast between Joao Pessoa and Sao Luis has the best weather in the world!
I have been lucky enough to travel quite a bit in my life. My journeys have taken me to various countries in Europe and Asia, throughout the United States and Canada, down through Central America and to most the countries in South America as well. Throughout all these adventures, I have never found a climate that is more pleasant and agreeable than the place I chose to settle, Praia da Pipa, in northeast Brazil.
What makes this climate so perfect you may ask? For me, it is the combination of the constant sunshine, the consistent trade winds coming off the Atlantic Ocean and just enough rain to keep the region green and fertile. This perfect mixture creates days where the equatorial sun gets just to the point of being too hot, when at that very moment it always seems, the cool winds picks up, keeping you cool and comfortable. The climate at night may even be more impressive. The soft, tropical breeze rustling the palms is something I continue to appreciate immensely even after 6 years here. It makes it cool enough to sleep without air conditioning too!
Besides comfort, another advantage of the steady trade winds in northeast Brazil, particularly in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, is that they create some of the cleanest air on planet earth which brings with it various health benefits.
The consistent sun makes Praia da Pipa and northeast Brazil a wonderful destination for those hoping to escape winter for guaranteed sunshine on the majority of Brazil’s best beaches; while the wind makes this coast one of the world’s best kitesurfing destinations. With the steady wind, kilometers upon kilometers of deserted beaches and the flat, warm waters all year long, it makes sense why kite surfers from far and wide travel to northeast Brazil.
